We have a dedicated panel of specialists who are available through a secure online care portal. Your patients can hold live video consultations with specialists in private, on their own or accompanied by you or your practice nurse. There are no set-up fees or ongoing access costs for you to connect your patients to Anywhere Healthcare. Where a Medicare rebate* is available, patients will be bulk-billed by Anywhere Healthcare for specialist consultations.

For patients living in a regional or rural area of Australia, an online specialist consultation may be eligible for a rebate under Medicare*. Anywhere Healthcare will bulk bill patients who are eligible for a Medicare rebate.

Which specialists are available online?Anywhere Healthcare has Dermatologists, General Physicians, Paediatricians, and Psychiatrists available for consultations. A Neurologist, Allergist, Geriatrician and Endocrinologist will join our panel soon. We will be adding more specialists to our panel in the coming months. Check our website regularly for updates

Which patients would be suitable for Anywhere Healthcare?Not all clinical conditions will be amenable to video consultations with a specialist. Anywhere Healthcare’s clinical scope of practice provides guidance as to the kinds of condition that are appropriate for video consultations. Where the patient’s clinical condition is amenable, patients who would benefit from a video consultation include:
• Patients who are unable to travel to see a specialist due to mobility or distance
• Patients who require regular appointments with a specialist
• Patients who want timely access to specialists
• Patients who are unable to take extended time off work or who can’t leave their family for extended periods to visit a specialist
• Patients who would like the support of the GP or practice nurse during a specialist consultation
• Patients who would like a second opinion
How do I refer a patient to an Anywhere Healthcare specialist?A patient can be referred to an Anywhere Healthcare specialist without interfering with your usual processes and systems. The referral letter can be attached to the patient’s Anywhere Healthcare profile once they have been registered in the system.
How can my clinic support staff help?Your support staff can help you and your patient by: • Checking specialist availability and scheduling appointments for your patients • Enrolling patients in Anywhere Healthcare • Guiding the patient through how an Anywhere Healthcare visit works. • Assisting patients throughout the consultation, if required.
Do my patients need private health insurance to see an Anywhere Healthcare specialist?No. Anyone living in regional Australia can use Anywhere Healthcare. Although the service is provided by Medibank Health Solutions, patients don’t have to have private health insurance through Medibank or any other provider to use the service.
Is Anywhere Healthcare covered by Medibank health insurance?No. If your patients live in a remote, rural, or outer metropolitan area of Australia, an online consultation with a specialist on Anywhere Healthcare may be eligible for a rebate under Medicare. In some situations, Anywhere Healthcare will bulk bill patients who are eligible for a Medicare rebate. In other situations, an out-of-pocket charge will apply. Medibank will provide a fee schedule so that you can advise your patients of the costs involved.
Can you give me more detail about the MBS Telehealth payments?GPs, nurse practitioners and practice nurses, midwives or Aboriginal Health Workers working under the supervision of a GP may be eligible for payments. Will I be covered by my Medical Indemnity Insurance?Video telemedicine is here to stay. Government (MBS) funding supports it and the Medical Indemnity Industry is extending its cover. However, all providers using the Anywhere Healthcare platform should make their own enquiries with their Medical Indemnifier.
What technical requirements are needed for Anywhere Healthcare?All you need is a computer with a broadband connection, web cam, and speakers. Anywhere Healthcare is a web-based application. There is a once-only download to allow the use of Enhanced Video; this is a user option and will not restrict the use of the system if not carried out.
For the best experience, high-speed broadband Internet access (e.g., DSL, cable) is recommended.
